Wes Streeting visited Great Yarmouth today [1 July] to campaign alongside local Labour candidate Keir Cozens and unveil Labour’s new election poster, focused on the choice for voters this Thursday.
Speaking at the poster launch, Streeting set out the clear choice for voters in Great Yarmouth: five more years of Conservative chaos that will see mortgages soar by another £4,800, or change with Labour.
The Shadow Health Secretary told people that only Labour has a plan to cut waiting lists and beat the Tory backlog, starting with an extra 40,000 appointments a week on evenings and weekends. He said the Conservatives have given up on the NHS, and if they sneak back in then NHS waiting lists will rise to 10 million.
He also warned voters who want to see the back of Rishi Sunak and the Conservatives that change will only happen if they vote for change with Labour.
Wes Streeting, Labour’s Shadow Health Secretary, speaking at the launch of Labour’s new election poster in Great Yarmouth, said:
“The country faces a big choice on Thursday: do you want five more years of chaos with the Conservatives, or change with Labour?
“If you vote Conservative on Thursday, nothing will change. And if you stay at home or vote for another party, you risk waking up on Friday to a Nightmare on Downing Street, with Rishi Sunak walking back into Number 10 for another five years.
“The Conservatives have given up on the NHS. Rishi Sunak isn’t waiting a year for an operation, so he doesn’t care that you are. If he gets another five years in power, the chaos in the NHS will continue and waiting lists will hit 10 million.
“A vote for Labour is a vote to stop the chaos, turn the page on 14 years, and start to rebuild Britain. That change will only come if you vote for it on Thursday.”
Keir Cozens, Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Great Yarmouth, said:
“This general election is a straight choice between the Tories and Labour.
“A vote for anyone other than me, weakens the chance that we can change our country and end the Tory chaos.”
