Sam Carling has today [13 May] been selected to stand as Labour’s Parliamentary candidate for North West Cambridgeshire.
Sam is a biomedical scientist and a councillor in Cambridge, where he is known as an energetic and supportive campaigner driving Labour’s efforts to end pollution in the River Cam.
Through his work with the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, Sam has been a champion for improving adult education and skills provision across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, as well as for improving transport links in rural communities.
Speaking after his selection, Sam Carling said:
“I’m delighted to be standing for Labour in North West Cambridgeshire, having seen the challenges faced by the local community after 14 years of a disastrous Tory government.
“Whether living in the most rural parts of the constituency, or in our towns, or in the southern half of Peterborough – people of all ages across North West Cambridgeshire are witnessing a continual decline in public services. GP appointments are impossible to access, local bus services continue to be cut, and there is a desperate lack of affordable housing across our area – from Ramsey to Wittering and everywhere in between.
“Only a Labour government can deliver the change that North West Cambridgeshire needs. I will stand up for our communities, and I am delighted to advocate for a Labour government to restore hope and opportunity across our area.”
