Today some of our MPs were out across the region celebrating Small Business Saturday. This is a chance for people to celebrate their local small businesses which provide 6 in 10 jobs across the country and bring diversity to high streets across the East of England.

In Norwich Labour’s Shadow Business Secretary Clive Lewis MP visited local businesses selling everything from Christmas elves to falafel, highlighting the diversity independent businesses bring to Norwich.

“Coming in the run up to Christmas, Small Business Saturday is a great opportunity for people up and down the country to show their appreciation to small businesses. Christmas wouldn’t be the same without the vitality that small businesses bring to our       areas, but we also need to recognise the contribution small businesses make all year round.”

In Cambridge Daniel Zeichner MP visited several small businesses, along the route of the Mill Road Winter Fair, with a reperesentative of the Small Business Federation.

Daniel said “Small businesses in Cambridge need the support of all of us, they often rely on their good reputation and friendly customer service to get by. I’m pleased to join many other people in celebrating Small Business Saturday, these business are the backbone of our local economy”.
